Important: If you have a known food allergy or sensitivity, please read all product labels carefully before consuming. Contact us directly if you need ingredient information for a specific product. This page does not substitute for professional medical or dietary advice.
Perishable Items Policy
Arada Market sells a variety of perishable products including fresh injera, dairy items, fresh produce, herbs, and meats. The following rules apply to all perishable purchases:
- ·Perishable items are available for in-store purchase and same-day pickup only — they cannot be shipped.
- ·Local delivery of perishables is coordinated for same-day or next-day delivery within our delivery zone.
- ·All perishables should be refrigerated or stored appropriately immediately upon receipt.
- ·Perishables are final sale — we do not accept returns on food items.
- ·If you receive a perishable item that appears spoiled or damaged, contact us within 2 hours of pickup or delivery.
- ·Pickup orders containing perishables must be collected within 2 hours of the ready notification.
Food Storage & Handling
Once perishable or temperature-sensitive goods leave our store or are picked up by the customer, Arada Market is no longer responsible for food safety. Customers are responsible for:
- ·Refrigerating perishables within 2 hours of pickup or delivery (1 hour in temperatures above 90°F).
- ·Following all packaging instructions and use-by dates on product labels.
- ·Not consuming products that appear spoiled, have been left unrefrigerated for extended periods, or show signs of damage.
- ·Informing household members of any relevant allergen content.
Allergen Disclaimer
Many of our products contain or may have been processed in facilities that handle common allergens including:
- ·Tree nuts (including sesame, which is a major FDA-recognized allergen as of January 2023)
- ·Wheat and gluten-containing grains (including teff, barley, and wheat used in Ethiopian breads)
- ·Peanuts
- ·Dairy and lactose-containing products
- ·Eggs
- ·Fish and shellfish (some imported spice blends)
- ·Soy
Cross-contamination: Some of our products are produced in facilities or kitchens that also process allergens not listed on the label. If you have a severe allergy, please contact us before purchasing to get the most current allergen information for that specific product.
Ingredients & Nutrition Information
Arada Market strives to provide accurate product information. However, manufacturers and importers may update ingredients, formulations, or labeling without prior notice. We recommend:
- ·Always reading the physical product label before consuming — the label is the most current source of truth.
- ·Not relying solely on website descriptions for allergen or dietary decisions.
- ·Contacting us or the manufacturer directly if you have specific dietary requirements or questions.
- ·Consulting a healthcare provider before consuming unfamiliar foods if you have dietary conditions.
Imported Goods Disclaimer
Many of our products are imported directly from Ethiopia, Eritrea, and East Africa. The following applies to imported products:
- ·Product packaging, labeling, and appearance may differ from what is shown on our website.
- ·Some imported products may carry labels in Amharic, Tigrinya, or other languages alongside English.
- ·Seasonal availability and batch variations may cause slight differences in color, texture, or flavor between shipments.
- ·All imported food products sold by Arada Market are imported in compliance with applicable U.S. FDA import regulations.
- ·Shelf life may be shorter for directly imported products without preservatives — check expiry dates on labels.
California Retail Food Code Compliance
Arada Market operates as a licensed California retail food facility and is subject to oversight by the Alameda County Environmental Health Department. We comply with the California Retail Food Code (Cal. Health & Safety Code § 113700 et seq.) for all food handling, storage, and sale practices.
