Named After a Place, Built for a People

The Arada Spirit

Named after the famous Arada neighborhood of Addis Ababa — a historic, vibrant market district — Arada Market in Oakland carries that same spirit of community, energy, and authentic goods.

Located at 5711 Telegraph Avenue in Oakland's Temescal corridor, we opened our doors to serve the growing Ethiopian and East African community in the Bay Area, as well as Californians who appreciate authentic, culturally rich products.

We carry a carefully curated selection of organic spices and seasonings imported directly from Northeast Africa — berbere, mitmita, korarima, turmeric, and more. Our pantry staples include teff, injera, and traditional grains that are rare to find anywhere else.

Beyond food, we offer natural beauty products, handcrafted jewelry, traditional and modern clothing, and spiritual goods that celebrate the depth and beauty of East African culture.

From pantry staples to cultural keepsakes — everything sourced with intention.

Our Principles

What We Stand For

Community First

We exist to serve Oakland's Ethiopian diaspora and the broader community that loves authentic East African culture. Every decision we make starts with our neighbors.

Quality & Freshness

From imported organic spices to perishable staples — freshness and quality are non-negotiable. We source directly so you taste the difference.

Authentic Sourcing

Our products come directly from Ethiopia and East Africa. What you find here, you won't find in a regular grocery store — and that is intentional.

Warm Hospitality

Every customer who walks through our door is welcomed like family. That is the Ethiopian tradition — and it is ours, every single day.

"
Arada Market is the closest thing to home we have in the Bay. Every time I walk in, I feel like I'm back in Addis — the smells, the products, the warmth.
